# PhilOS

PhilOS is a free, local-first builder for portable `.philos` AI collaboration profiles. A profile is plain text that can be uploaded or pasted into a text-capable AI system to communicate a user’s working preferences, source-traceability expectations, collaboration modes, edit permissions, and drift-check signals.

## Important limits

PhilOS is an alignment aid, not a model, memory layer, policy override, or compliance guarantee. A status or audit line is a traceability signal only. AI systems vary in their ability to access files, retain context, follow instructions, browse links, and disclose model/version information.

## Available experimental tools

The direct-linkable `/tools` route is intentionally excluded from ordinary search indexing while the working index develops. The public Creativity Tools page explains the available exercises. A user may request an exercise directly, ask an AI for a fit-based suggestion, or accept an AI offer after it explains the fit. The complete working instructions are carried in a Standard PhilOS profile rather than published as a static web page.
